Appeals Process for Eligibility Decisions

Individuals who disagree with their paratransit eligibility decision have the right to appeal. Lextran offers flexibility in the appeals process, allowing hearings to be conducted in-person, by phone, or via Zoom, to accommodate individual needs. Lextran ensures impartiality by assigning appeal decisions to members not involved in the initial eligibility determination, to the maximum extent possible.

Appeals must be submitted in writing within 60 days of the initial decision. Following the appeal process, individuals will receive a written notification detailing the decision and the reasoning behind it. To initiate an appeal, please contact BIOKINETIX using the information below:

For current customers or those reapplying for recertification, temporary paratransit service may be available during the appeal process. This is granted if a completed Hearing Request form is received by Lextran within 10 calendar days of receiving a denial letter. Please note that temporary service is not offered to new applicants during an appeal. If an appeal decision is not reached within 30 days of the hearing, paratransit service will be provided from the 31st day until a decision is made.
