Commercial Vehicle Detour in Shreveport/Bossier City Area
All commercial vehicles are mandated to detour onto I-220 when traveling through the Bossier City/Shreveport area. Please plan your routes accordingly and adhere to this designated detour.
Mardi Gras Holiday Restrictions: Select Areas – March 1-4, 2025
Oversize and overweight vehicle movement will be restricted on all state highways in specific areas from Saturday, March 1, 2025, through Tuesday, March 4, 2025, in observance of the Mardi Gras season. This restriction applies regardless of permitted routes, with the exception of permit loads that qualify for 24-hour movement.
The restricted areas include:
- Parishes of Orleans, Jefferson, and St. Bernard: Including all interstates within these parishes.
- City Limits of Lafayette: Excluding I-10.
- City Limits and Surrounding Area of New Roads.
- City Limits and Surrounding Area of Houma.
- City Limits and Surrounding Area of Lake Charles: Excluding I-10 and I-210.

All OSOW truck loads operating in Louisiana must provide a certificate of insurance with a minimum coverage of $100,000. This requirement has been in effect since December 4, 2019. Escort Vehicle Permit Information
Escort Vehicle Permits expire annually on December 31st, regardless of the issue date. Renewal requires proof of general liability insurance, motor vehicle liability insurance, and workers’ compensation, each with a minimum coverage of $500,000 (revised statute 387.1).
