Purchasing a new car should be an exciting experience. For me, the anticipation of getting my 2024 Mustang Ecoboost quickly turned into a month-long saga of frustration, damage, and lies, all thanks to Nexus Transport Company. Hoping to save time and avoid a long drive, I opted to use Nexus Transport Company to ship my newly bought Mustang from Virginia to South Georgia. This decision, unfortunately, turned out to be a costly mistake, and this is my experience to serve as a warning to others considering Nexus Transport Company for their auto transport needs.
Initially, Nexus Transport Company presented themselves as a reliable solution. Their website boasted GPS tracking and promised a seamless delivery experience. Needing the car quickly, I paid extra for expedited shipping, with a guaranteed pickup on February 1st and delivery on February 2nd. This was the first in a series of broken promises from Nexus Transport Company.
February 1st came and went with no pickup. Excuses were plentiful, but action was nonexistent. Nexus Transport Company then assured me pickup would occur the morning of February 2nd, with delivery by evening. Again, this promise proved hollow. By 5 PM on February 2nd, after being told the car had been picked up, a call to the dealership confirmed my worst fears: the car was still sitting in Virginia.
Upon contacting Nexus Transport Company again, the truth began to unravel. They admitted to subcontracting the job to another company without my knowledge or consent. When pressed about the pickup, they claimed a driver would be there by 7 PM, then 8 PM. Finally, at 8:30 PM EST, the dealership confirmed a pickup, but not by a professional car carrier. Instead, a Ram 3500 towing a three-car rollback – essentially a tow truck – arrived to transport my brand new Mustang. The dealership’s attempt to photograph the unprofessional setup was met with resistance from the driver, raising immediate red flags about the operation Nexus Transport Company was running.
The promised expedited delivery of February 2nd was now completely derailed. Nexus Transport Company then shifted to a new delivery promise of 8-9 AM on February 3rd. Given the 13-hour drive from Virginia, this already seemed improbable. Predictably, 9 AM passed with no delivery. The excuses and delays continued throughout February 3rd. At 9 PM, I discovered the car was still in North Carolina – nowhere near its destination. Throughout this ordeal, the GPS tracking Nexus Transport Company advertised was nonexistent, leaving me completely in the dark and reliant on their unreliable updates.
Finally, on February 4th, amidst a thunderstorm, the car arrived at 1:30 PM – nearly two days behind the initial guaranteed delivery date. Upon unloading the car, the nightmare escalated. In the pouring rain, damage was immediately apparent. The driver’s side door was dented, and upon closer inspection after drying the car inside, the hood was also dented and scratched, precisely where it had been positioned under the crossbar of the rollback carrier. This damage was not present when the car left the dealership, confirmed by photos taken just before pickup.
The driver refused to document the damage on the Bill of Lading, adding insult to injury. Contacting both the subcontracted trucking company and Nexus Transport Company initiated a month-long battle of denials and shifting responsibility. Nexus Transport Company disclaimed liability, pointing fingers at the subcontractor, despite being the company I hired and paid.
To this day, I am still fighting to get compensation for the $4,367 worth of damage to my brand new car. What was supposed to be an exciting new car purchase has been overshadowed by the terrible experience with Nexus Transport Company. My advice to anyone considering auto transport: avoid Nexus Transport Company at all costs. Do your thorough research, read reviews, and choose a reputable and transparent car shipping company. My experience with Nexus Transport Company serves as a stark reminder that not all transport companies are created equal, and choosing the wrong one can lead to significant financial loss and immense frustration. Learn from my mistake and steer clear of Nexus Transport Company.
