Nexus Car Transport: A Cautionary Tale of Damaged Dreams and Broken Promises

Purchasing a new car is often an exciting milestone. For me, the anticipation of owning a 2024 Mustang Ecoboost was almost unbearable. After comparing options and deciding on the perfect model online at a dealership a few hours away, the only hurdle left was getting it home. That’s when I encountered Nexus Car Transport, and unfortunately, my dream car delivery turned into a month-long nightmare.

Initially, Nexus auto transport appeared to be a reliable solution. Their website boasted GPS tracking and professional service, leading me to believe I was in safe hands. Opting for what I thought was a premium service, I paid extra for expedited pickup and delivery – February 1st and 2nd were the promised dates. This is where the smooth ride ended and the bumpy road began.

February 1st came and went with no pickup, only a string of excuses from Nexus. Despite a deposit paid and a contract signed, my brand new Mustang remained at the dealership in Virginia. The next day brought more of the same – assurances of a morning pickup and evening delivery that evaporated as the hours ticked by. Frustration mounting, I contacted the dealership, Ourisman Ford, only to discover my car was still sitting on their lot. Nexus car transport had not even collected it.

Upon confronting Nexus, I was met with a shocking revelation: they hadn’t planned to transport my car themselves at all. Instead, they had subcontracted the job to another company without my knowledge or consent. This immediately raised red flags. Who was this unknown company? Would they handle my new car with care? The promised GPS tracking became a cruel joke, as I was left completely in the dark.

Finally, late on February 2nd, I received confirmation from the dealership that someone had arrived to pick up the Mustang. However, instead of a professional car carrier, a Ram 3500 towing a three-car rollback arrived. Alarm bells were ringing loudly. My pristine Mustang was now in the hands of a subcontractor hired by Nexus, being loaded onto what appeared to be a less-than-ideal transport setup. Despite promises of delivery the next morning, February 3rd, my skepticism was growing with every passing hour.

Unsurprisingly, February 3rd brought more delays and vague updates. The delivery window of 8-9 am came and went. Calls to Nexus yielded nothing but further excuses and shifting ETAs. By 9 pm on February 3rd, I learned the car was still in North Carolina – hours away from its destination in South Georgia. The lack of communication and blatant disregard for their promises was appalling.

Finally, on the afternoon of February 4th, under a heavy thunderstorm, the truck arrived. As my Mustang was unloaded, the grim reality of this disastrous car shipping experience became starkly apparent. The driver’s door was dented, and upon closer inspection, the hood was also damaged – dented and scratched in a way that aligned perfectly with the crossbar of the car hauler it had been transported on. This brand new car, with only two miles on the odometer and documented as pristine just hours before pickup, was damaged in transit.

The driver, unwilling to acknowledge the damage on the Bill of Lading, was quickly dismissed. What followed was a month-long battle with Nexus car transport, the subcontracted trucking company, and insurance claims. Nexus, predictably, attempted to absolve themselves of all responsibility, pointing fingers at their subcontractor. Despite hiring and paying Nexus directly, I was left to fight a protracted and frustrating battle to get the $4,367 worth of damage repaired.

My experience with Nexus car transport serves as a stark warning. Their initial promises of professionalism and reliable service were completely hollow. Subcontracting without transparency, lack of communication, constant delays, and ultimately, damage to my new vehicle transformed what should have been a joyful experience into a stressful ordeal. If you are considering nexus car transport for your vehicle, I urge you to proceed with extreme caution and consider exploring alternative and more reputable car shipping options. Learn from my costly mistake and protect your vehicle – and your peace of mind – by choosing a car transport company that values its customers and delivers on its promises.
