Trimac Transportation Expands Footprint with Acquisition of Double Eagle Transportation

Trimac Transportation, a leading North American bulk carrier, has officially announced its acquisition of Double Eagle Transportation, a well-regarded cement transportation company based in Hesperia, California. This strategic move, finalized in July 2021, significantly enhances Trimac’s presence in the southwestern United States and strengthens its position within the expanding cement market.

Double Eagle Transportation, established in 1992, has built a strong reputation as a family-owned and operated business. Founded by Jerry Butcher II, the company has grown from a small fleet to a significant player in cement hauling, known for its commitment to excellent service and strong customer relationships. Operating from just outside Los Angeles, Double Eagle boasts a dedicated team of 132 professionals, including 105 experienced drivers, and a robust fleet of 96 tractors and 124 dry bulk pneumatic trailer sets, commonly known as California doubles. Their core business focuses on transporting cement, alongside other essential materials like fly ash, gypsum, lime/limestone, and sand.

Jerry Butcher II expressed confidence in the acquisition, stating, “I’m pleased to pass the baton on to a company with similar strong, family-run business philosophies, and who has the energy and resources to take what we’ve built to the next level.” His sons, Jerry Butcher III and Benjamin Butcher, will remain integral to the operation, ensuring continuity and maintaining the high standards of service Double Eagle is known for.

Matt Faure, President & CEO of Trimac Transportation, also voiced enthusiasm about the acquisition. “We are thrilled to bring Double Eagle into the Trimac family and welcome the dedicated and professional employees,” he commented. He highlighted the alignment of company cultures, emphasizing shared values in safety, family-oriented operations, and a strong team spirit. This acquisition is seen as a synergistic opportunity for both companies to learn from each other and enhance their service offerings.

For Trimac, this acquisition of Double Eagle Transportation is a key component of their strategic growth plan. As one of the largest bulk carriers in North America, with an extensive network of 140 locations, 1987 tractors, and 4,257 trailers, Trimac is continuously seeking opportunities for expansion. Double Eagle’s strong foothold in California, Nevada, and the Pacific Northwest provides Trimac with a valuable platform to capitalize on the growing cement market in these regions. By integrating Double Eagle’s expertise and regional presence, Trimac aims to further solidify its leadership in the bulk transportation industry and deliver enhanced value to its expanding customer base.
