Discover Your Furry Friend with A Heinz 57 Pet Rescue and Transport

Are you looking to open your heart and home to a deserving animal? A Heinz 57 Pet Rescue and Transport is dedicated to saving the lives of homeless companion animals. Our core mission extends beyond just sheltering; we actively support other shelters and rescues through our comprehensive rescue transport services. Furthermore, we believe in keeping families together, offering in-home training resources aimed at helping dogs remain in their loving current homes. Education is also a cornerstone of our work, as we strive to raise public awareness about pet overpopulation, the importance of responsible pet ownership, and the cruel realities of puppy mills.

Our Adoption Process: Finding the Perfect Match

Adopting a pet is a significant and rewarding decision. At A Heinz 57 Pet Rescue and Transport, we’ve developed a thoughtful adoption policy to ensure every animal finds a safe, nurturing, and forever home. Our process is designed to be thorough yet supportive, guiding you every step of the way.

Step 1: Begin with Your Adoption Application

The first step in welcoming a new furry family member is to complete our online adoption application. This application is designed to help us understand your lifestyle, home environment, and what you’re looking for in a companion animal. It’s important to note that this application is not a binding contract but rather the start of a conversation.

Whether you have a specific dog or cat in mind or need assistance in finding a suitable match, filling out the application is the perfect starting point. Once submitted, your application enters our verification process. This includes:

  • Veterinary Record Verification: We prioritize the health and well-being of all animals. As part of our process, we verify that any current pets you own are spayed/neutered and have up-to-date vaccinations.
  • Home Ownership/Landlord/HOA Verification: To ensure a smooth transition for the adopted pet, we confirm that pets are permitted in your home. This involves checking with landlords, Homeowner Associations (HOAs), or city regulations regarding pet ownership and any breed restrictions.

If any questions arise during the verification process, one of our dedicated volunteers will reach out to you via email to update you on your application status. If you haven’t heard from us within 48 hours of submitting your application, please remember to check your spam folder, just in case our email landed there. We appreciate your patience and understanding that we often receive multiple applications for the same animal. Our volunteers are committed to finding the best possible fit for each and every dog and cat in our care.

Step 2: The Meet and Greet: Getting Acquainted

Once your application successfully passes the verification stage, an adoption coordinator from A Heinz 57 Pet Rescue and Transport will contact you as quickly as possible to discuss the next steps in the adoption journey. This coordinator is your point of contact and is available to answer any questions you may have, whether about a specific animal or our overall adoption process.

The adoption coordinator will then connect you with the foster volunteer who is currently caring for the dog or cat you are interested in. This connection is crucial for scheduling a meet and greet. We require a meet and greet with all members of your household, both human and furry residents. This step is vital to ensure that we are finding the absolute best match for everyone involved, creating a harmonious and happy home environment.

Step 3: The Home Visit: Ensuring a Safe Environment

Prior to finalizing any dog adoption, A Heinz 57 Pet Rescue and Transport requires a home visit. After a successful meet and greet, a home visit volunteer will reach out to arrange a convenient time for a home check. We want to emphasize that home visits are not intended to be intrusive or judgmental. The primary goal of the visit is to allow us to see where our adoptees will be living and to provide you, the adopter, with an opportunity to get to know us better as an organization.

For us, the most important aspect of the home visit is to gain reassurance that our animals are going to safe, caring, and prepared homes. We want to ensure that all family members are ready to embrace the lifelong commitment that comes with welcoming a new companion animal into their lives.

Step 4: Happy Tail! Adoption Day!

After both a successful meet and greet and home visit, it’s time to celebrate – we schedule the adoption! When you adopt from A Heinz 57 Pet Rescue and Transport, you are welcoming a pet that is fully prepared to become a beloved family member.

For Dogs: All our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped for identification and safety, heartworm tested (adult dogs), and kept up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. They are also given monthly flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives to ensure their ongoing health.

For Cats: Similarly, all our cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, FIV/FeLV tested (adult cats), and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations. They also receive monthly flea and tick preventatives.
