Getting Around: Your Guide to Airport Transportation in Philadelphia

Landing at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and need to get to Center City or elsewhere? Navigating airport transportation can be straightforward once you know your options. This guide focuses on getting you smoothly from PHL to your destination, primarily highlighting the efficient SEPTA Airport Regional Rail Line.

While there are various ways to travel from Philadelphia Airport, including taxis, ride-sharing services, and buses, the SEPTA Airport Regional Rail Line stands out for its speed and convenience, especially for reaching Center City Philadelphia.

Currently, passengers should be aware of ongoing platform rehabilitation at PHL. Please note that due to platform rehabilitation taking place on the platforms adjacent to South Commercial Road, access to SEPTA North platforms at Terminal A- B, C-D, and E-F is closed beginning Monday, Sept 12, 2022 at 6:00am. Construction is ongoing until the Fall of 2023.

During this period, accessing the SEPTA Airport Regional Rail Line to and from Center City requires using the center platform. Upon arrival and after collecting your luggage from baggage claim at Terminals A-East, B, C, D, and E (Terminal F passengers can access the train platform at Terminal E), simply follow signs for the train. You’ll need to use the escalator, elevator, or stairs to reach the center platform. From there, you can easily board the train to Center City.

The SEPTA Airport Regional Rail Line is accessible via pedestrian walkways connecting the terminals and baggage claim areas at Terminals A-East, B, C, D, and E. Passengers at Terminal F can access the platform at Terminal E. Elevators are available on both SEPTA platforms and pedestrian bridges, ensuring accessibility for all travelers. The platforms are also equipped with bridge plates to assist wheelchair users and yellow safety stripes for enhanced safety.

Trains on the Airport Regional Rail Line run frequently, approximately every 30 minutes, providing a reliable link between the airport and Center City. From Center City to the Airport, trains operate from 4:25 AM to 11:25 PM. For journeys from the Airport to Center City, services run from 5:07 AM to 12:07 AM. The Airport Line conveniently serves Terminals A-East, B, C-D, and E (with Terminal F passengers using Terminal E station).

For those interested in onward travel, 30th Street Station offers connections to Amtrak and New Jersey Transit. Furthermore, you can connect to the Market Frankford Line at 30th Street, Suburban, and Jefferson (Market East) Stations, and to the Broad Street Line at Suburban Station, expanding your reach throughout Philadelphia and beyond.

Besides the train, SEPTA also provides accessible bus services. Routes 37, 108, and 115 offer connections to South Philadelphia, 69th Street Transportation Center, and Suburban Square in Ardmore, respectively. SEPTA buses pick up from Zone 1 outside baggage claim at Terminals A-East, B, C, D, and E (Terminal F passengers use Terminal E).

For passengers requiring specialized transportation, SEPTA’s Customized Community Transport (CCT Connect) service is available for registered passengers, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Pick-up is at Zone 1 outside each baggage claim area. To schedule a ride, registered users can call 215-580-7700 (TDD/TTY 215-580-7712) or visit www.septa.org/service/cct/.
