  • Enrollment and GPA: Be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 in coursework relevant to the public transportation industry or their degree program, and demonstrate a clear and strong interest in a public transportation career.
  • Sponsorship (Returning Applicants Only): Returning applicants must be sponsored by an organization that is a member of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA). A wide range of APTA members can act as sponsors. First-time applicants are not required to have a sponsor, making this an accessible opportunity for new entrants to the field.

A complete application for the APTA Transportation Scholarship includes the following components:

  • Essay: A maximum 1,000-word essay is required. Please note that plagiarism, including AI-generated content, is strictly prohibited and will disqualify your application.
