The Texas Trucking Association (TXTA) Foundation has announced the recipients of its 2022-23 scholarships, awarding a total of $200,000 to 37 deserving students across the nation. Among those recognized are family members of employees from prominent transportation companies, including GenOx Transportation and United Petroleum Transports, as well as Pulido Transport.
These scholarships, granted by the TXTA Foundation, are exclusively for individuals affiliated with TXTA member companies, underscoring the association’s commitment to supporting the families within the trucking industry.
Brandon Woods, TXTA Foundation chairman, highlighted the program’s long-standing impact: “Since 1991, the TXTA Foundation scholarship program has been dedicated to giving back to the families of trucking industry employees—the backbone of our nation’s movement. We are proud to have awarded over $2.1 million in scholarships, assisting students in achieving their educational and career aspirations.”
This year’s scholarship awards include several memorial scholarships, each established to honor key figures and support specific academic achievements. The Joyce & Herbert E. Skinner Memorial Scholarship, the foundation’s top honor, was awarded to Chase Alford from Apache Oil Company, attending the University of Texas at Dallas. For top freshman, Ellington Hull, affiliated with Trout Trucking Company and attending The University of Texas at Austin, received the Mike Craddock Memorial Scholarship. Stacey Arriaga of Southwestern Motor Transportation, studying at Texas A&M University, San Antonio, was granted the Rex & Marillyn King Foundation Scholarship, while Maranda Suescun from Pulido Transport, a student at The University of Texas at Austin, received the Ed Kyrish Memorial Scholarship. The Stoney Reese Stubbs Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Tori McVey, connected to Merfish United Distribution and studying at Texas A&M University at College Station.
Among the comprehensive list of scholarship recipients, Pamela Serensits, linked to GenOx Transportation, was also recognized. Her achievement highlights GenOx Transportation’s dedication to its employees and their families’ futures, as recognized by the TXTA Foundation.
