As a patient of Health Services, a variety of transportation resources are available to ensure you can reach your doctor’s office. If you lack personal transportation, have no family members able to drive you, and public transport isn’t a viable option, it’s essential to contact your clinic. They can guide you to the most suitable transportation solution tailored to your needs. Below is an overview of the medical transportation resources accessible to Health Services patients.

Insurance-Based Medical Transportation

Depending on your insurance provider, you may be eligible for free medical transportation services to and from your clinic appointments. Here are the options based on different insurance plans:

L.A. Care Patients

If you are an L.A. Care patient with full-scope Medi-Cal, you qualify for FREE rides to and from your medical appointments through L.A. Care’s transportation partner, Call the Car.

To arrange your FREE ride, please contact Call the Car directly by calling L.A. Care at (888)-839-9909. When you call, please have the following information ready:

  • Your Medi-Cal number
  • Your home address for pickup
  • The location and details of your clinic appointment

Health Net Patients

Health Net patients who have full-scope Medi-Cal are also entitled to FREE transportation to and from their clinic visits. This service is provided through Health Net’s transportation partner, ModivCare.

To book your FREE ride, reach out to ModivCare at (855)-253-6863. Please ensure you have the following information available when you call:

  • Your Medi-Cal number
  • Your home address for pickup
  • Clinic appointment location and specifics

Molina Patients

Molina Healthcare patients with full-scope Medi-Cal benefits can access FREE rides to and from their healthcare appointments through Molina’s transportation partner, American Logistics.

To schedule your FREE transportation, call American Logistics at (844)-292-2688. Be prepared to provide the following details:

  • Your Medi-Cal number
  • Your home address for pickup
  • Details regarding your clinic appointment location

Access Transportation for People with Disabilities

Access Transportation provides public transportation services specifically designed for individuals with disabilities throughout Los Angeles County. If you can walk independently but require accessible transportation, you may be eligible for FREE, shared rides using Access buses and trains. Access vehicles operate on the same schedules as most public buses in Los Angeles County, ensuring travel times are comparable to standard bus routes.

Even if you do not have a formally recognized disability, you might still qualify for Access benefits. To determine your eligibility for FREE transportation through Access, please contact them directly at (800)-883-1295.

Uber and Lyft for Medical Transportation

For patients who do not qualify for the insurance-based or Access transportation options mentioned above, Health Services has partnered with Uber and Lyft to offer FREE rides to and from clinic appointments.

To arrange an Uber or Lyft ride for your medical appointment, you must contact your clinic directly. Please speak with your doctor, nurse, or social worker to check your eligibility for these ride-sharing services to get to your clinic.

COVID-19 Transportation Guidelines

Please be aware of the following guidelines to ensure safe medical transportation during the COVID-19 pandemic:

  • Do not use transportation services if you have COVID-19 or are experiencing symptoms such as coughing, fever, sore throat, or shortness of breath.
  • Always wear a face mask throughout your ride.
  • Sanitize or wash your hands thoroughly before entering the vehicle.
  • Keep your mask on for the duration of the trip.
  • If possible, avoid sitting in the front seat and open windows for ventilation.
