Metro Transport is dedicated to offering high-quality transportation solutions for senior citizens and adults with special needs within the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest region, ensuring access regardless of financial constraints.
Established in 2003, thanks to initial funding from The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey, Metro Transport has consistently delivered vital medical and social transportation services. We proudly serve seniors and adults with special needs across Essex, and parts of Morris and Union Counties in New Jersey. As a collaborative initiative between Daughters of Israel and the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater MetroWest NJ, Metro Transport embodies community support and reliable service. We facilitate approximately 6,000 rides each year, making a tangible difference in the lives of our clients.
To ensure affordability, our income-based subsidy program, supported by The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey and the Plafsky Family Endowment Fund, assists those who need help covering transportation costs. A standard round trip is economically priced at just $2.50 per town zone, each way. Our operational hours are Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., providing convenient access to essential destinations.
Metro Transport offers rides to:
- Medical Appointments: Including routine check-ups, chemotherapy/radiation sessions, and same-day surgery appointments.
- Community and Senior Centers: Transportation to the JCC and affiliated senior centers for social and recreational activities.
- Care Facility Visits: Enabling visits to nursing homes and hospitals, supporting connections with loved ones.
