Community Engagement and Special Initiatives

The Forney Museum of Transportation is actively involved in community outreach through initiatives like the Annual Bike Drive.

2025 Bike Drive – Promoting Cycling Equity

Our Annual Bike Giveaway event is committed to enhancing equity in cycling and transportation access within our community. Through this program, we provide bicycles, helmets, locks, and essential accessories to adults and children in need. In August 2021, collaborating with local partners at the Valdez-Perry Branch Library, we engaged with the community, offering valuable resources on bike repair, local bike paths, and bike libraries. Thanks to the generous support of our partners and community members, we successfully donated 83 bikes and repaired an additional 10 bikes for community members at the annual event. To sustain this important initiative, the Forney Museum of Transportation gratefully accepts bicycle donations year-round.

We welcome donations of:

  • Stable bicycles in rideable condition
  • Functional bike locks
  • Helmets (less than 3 years old)
  • Bike repair kits
  • Elbow and knee pads

We invite volunteers and sponsors to join us in expanding this impactful event to serve even more Denver communities. Get involved and contribute to the cause! We extend special gratitude to our valued collaborators:
