Season Opening Trolley Rides

Every Sunday throughout our operating season, enjoy a classic trolley ride through the scenic countryside surrounding the museum. These delightful rides are a visitor favorite and offer a relaxing way to experience a piece of transportation history. Your family-friendly admission includes not just the trolley ride, but also access to the museum’s extensive collection of trolley cars, vintage vehicles, and model railroads, including the iconic Midtown Plaza Monorail exhibit. Trains & Trolleys @ Twilight – Special Evening Events

For three special Saturdays throughout the year, the New York Museum of Transportation partners with the Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum to bring you “Trains & Trolleys @ Twilight.” These unique evening events offer an extended experience including both a train and trolley ride! Enjoy live music, delicious ice cream, and more as the sun sets on a perfect evening of transportation history. These events are scheduled for Saturdays: June 1st, July 6th, and September 7th. Reservations are required to ensure your spot for these popular evenings, so be sure to book your tickets in advance!

Father’s Day – Free Admission for Dads & Grandpas

Celebrate Father’s Day with a special trip to the New York Museum of Transportation! On Sunday, June 16th, all dads and grandpas receive free admission when accompanied by a child aged 3-12. It’s the perfect opportunity to create lasting memories together. Explore the fascinating world of model trains, climb aboard a real fire truck, and don’t miss the chance to ride the only electric trolley in New York State! Give the special men in your life a unique and enjoyable Father’s Day experience.

Sports Car Festival

Car enthusiasts, mark your calendars! On Sunday, July 21st, the New York Museum of Transportation teams up with the MG Car Club of Western New York Centre to host our annual Sports Car Festival. Admire a stunning display of over 100 vintage and modern sports cars, representing automotive design and engineering through the ages. To enhance your festival experience, trolley rides will be operating throughout the day, offering a relaxing break and a different perspective on the show field. It’s a gala event for car lovers of all ages!

ROC City Scale Modelers Showcase

Discover the fascinating world of model building on Sunday, August 4th, when the ROC City Scale Modelers present their incredible creations at the museum. Marvel at detailed model planes, ships, military vehicles, and science fiction models. Members will be on hand to offer tips and insights into model building techniques – perfect for aspiring modelers of all skill levels! As always, trolley rides are included with your museum admission, making it a fun and engaging day for the whole family.

Organ Grinders Nostalgia

Step back in time on Sunday, August 25th, with a visit from a group of antique mechanical music machine collectors. These “Organ Grinders” will fill the museum grounds with nostalgic melodies from their beautifully restored machines. Learn about the history of these fascinating instruments and even try your hand at cranking out a tune yourself! Enjoy the charming atmosphere and, of course, take a ride on our vintage trolley as part of your admission.

Antique Fire Truck Display

Experience the power and history of firefighting on Sunday, September 15th, during our Antique Fire Truck display. Get up close to beautifully preserved vintage fire trucks, learn about their evolution, and hear stories of firefighting history. It’s an exciting event for all ages, especially those fascinated by emergency vehicles. Trolley rides are included, providing a delightful addition to your day at the museum.

Rush Fall Festival & Trolley Link

Celebrate the autumn season on Saturday, September 28th, by visiting the New York Museum of Transportation in conjunction with the 22nd annual Rush Fall Festival, conveniently located right next door! Enjoy a day packed with family fun, including games, face painting, a pie-eating contest, and much more at the festival. For a unique two-museum experience, trolley rides will connect the festival grounds to the Rochester and Genesee Valley Railroad Museum’s train, offering seamless access to even more attractions.

Fall Foliage Trolley Rides

Witness the breathtaking beauty of fall in New York State from a unique vantage point – the window of a vintage electric trolley car! Our Fall Foliage Trolley Rides are offered on Sundays throughout October: October 6th, October 13th, and October 27th. Immerse yourself in the vibrant colors of the season as you enjoy a relaxing ride through the autumn landscape. These special trolley rides are included with your regular museum admission.

Halloween Trolley Express – Pumpkin Patch Adventure

Get into the Halloween spirit with a fun and festive ride on the Halloween Trolley Express! On Sunday, October 20th, ride to our special Pumpkin Patch where kids can decorate a baby pumpkin to take home as a spooky souvenir. Back at the museum, enjoy trick-or-treating in our Halloween-decorated trolley cars for a safe and delightful Halloween experience. Reservations are required for this popular event, so book your tickets early to avoid disappointment!

Holly Trolley Rides – Visit Santa & Mrs. Claus

Celebrate the magic of the holiday season with a visit to the New York Museum of Transportation during our Holly Trolley Rides! Meet Santa and Mrs. Claus in our festively decorated museum on Saturday, December 7th, and Sundays, December 8th and 15th. Enjoy a ride on the Holly Trolley, watch our model railroad in action, and warm up with complimentary hot chocolate and cookies. Reservations are required to visit Santa and enjoy these holiday festivities, making it a perfect family outing to kick off the Christmas season.
