RIST Transport Expands Service Footprint with AMA Transportation Acquisition

Rist Transport, a prominent less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, has officially announced its acquisition of AMA Transportation Co. This strategic move, finalized on June 1st, marks a significant expansion for RIST Transport and is poised to enhance service capabilities for customers across New England and beyond.

AMA Transportation, based in Billerica, Massachusetts, brings to RIST Transport a robust operational network that includes four terminals and a fleet of 75 power units. The acquisition will allow RIST Transport to significantly broaden its direct service routes, particularly within New England, Metropolitan New York, and New Jersey, areas where AMA Transportation has established a strong presence. According to a customer letter released by RIST Transport, this acquisition is expected to translate into improved customer service and enhanced technology offerings for all clients.

Steve Wadhams, President of Wadhams Enterprises, the parent company of RIST Transport, emphasized the synergistic nature of this deal. He highlighted the two companies’ successful 20-year partnership as service partners, noting that the acquisition was a natural progression. Wadhams also pointed to the shared values of both companies as family-owned and operated businesses, reinforcing a commitment to maintaining excellent customer service, reliable deliveries, and overall customer satisfaction.

Gabrielle Simmons, Departments Manager at RIST Transport and a third-generation Wadhams family member, assured customers of a smooth transition. Initially, operations will continue without major disruptions, ensuring consistent service levels. Importantly, Mark and Anthony Bruzzese, the current owners of AMA Transportation, will remain with the company, and the brand will retain elements that honor their father, founder Alfred Bruzzese. This continuity, coupled with expanded direct service routes, signals a positive development for customers of both RIST Transport and AMA Transportation.
